Asa Does Characters is just that: Asa Erlendson performing a series of characters that will make you feel entertained, smitten, weirded out, and more.

Asa Erlendson started performing as a kid when he was simply hamming it up in front of the fam. Then he took that raw energy to the stage and learned that theater requires learning a script, so he reveled in taking the small roles that required minimal memorization, but enabled maximum goofing around. In 2007 he was captivated by the the improvisational happenings of his college’s troupe, Without a Box. From there it’s been nothing but a passionate quest to become the best improviser he can be. He is taking what he’s learned from improv and now ventures into the scripted world of sketch. He rides his bicycle to most places, makes a pretty good chili, and loves his cat, Halloumi.

The RENS deliver a high-energy blast of original sketch comedy inspired by the Black experience. It’s equal parts silly, satirical, and unapologetically absurd. With a style rooted in the legacy of In Living Color, Chappelle’s Show, and Key & Peele, they bring lovable characters, wild scenarios, and that signature funkadelic vibe straight from the mothership. Each set includes about 6 live sketches, audience participation, and optional videos, making for a full on boogie wonderland of laughs.
