Are you currently open for shows & classes?

Yes! RISE Comedy is fully open for shows and classes. Right now we are hosting shows on Wednesday – Sunday nights, and we will expand into other nights of the week as soon as possible!

Improv comedy? Unscripted comedy? What’s that?

Many comedy shows at RISE Comedy are improvised and unscripted, which means that the performers have not prepared anything in advance of the show. For example, in a Hit and Run: Musical Improv show, the performers take the suggestion of a show title from the audience, and use that title to create a spontaneous Broadway musical from scratch. Since many of our shows are improvised and unscripted, we never know exactly what’s going to happen, which is a potent recipe for comedy!

Where are you located? Where can I park? What about Rockies game days?

We are located at 1260 22nd Street, Denver, CO 80205, on 22nd between Larimer & Lawrence, two blocks southeast of Coors Field.  Check our Map & Parking page for directions & more details.

On Rockies game days, parking in our neighborhood can be challenging, so it’s usually best to look a few more blocks out for parking. We also recommend Uber/Lyft as well.

Is RISE Comedy related to Voodoo Comedy?

Yes! As of June 2020, Voodoo Comedy is now known as RISE Comedy.

When does the bar open? When are shows? How much are tickets?

The bar opens 30 minutes before shows begin, at 7:30 PM Tue – Thu, and 6:30 PM Fri & Sat. We are usually open until at least 11:00 PM Tue – Thu, and at least midnight Fri & Sat.

Shows typically start at 8:00 PM Tue – Thu, and 7:00 PM Fri & Sat, and new shows typically start every hour.  Check our Show Calendar page for specific show info and dates.

Tickets start at $13 advance.  Special event tickets may vary in price.  Buy your tickets in advance and save!

Should I buy tickets in advance?

We highly recommend it!  Buying your tickets in advance guarantees you a seat, you’ll save money, and you won’t have to worry about arriving at a sold out show.

Do you serve alcohol? Are drinks allowed in the theater and/or on the patio?

Yep, we sure do!  We have a full bar and experienced bartenders to take care of you. We serve draft and bottled beer, wine, and cocktails, and we are proud to feature many local Colorado brands.

Drinks purchased at our bar can be brought into and enjoyed in the theater and our spacious patio. No outside alcohol or other drinks can be brought into the theater or bar, and all drinks purchased at the bar must be consumed on the premises. All guests will be asked to show ID at the door and before purchasing drinks.

Is there a drink minimum?

Nope, RISE Comedy does not require drink minimum purchases!

Does RISE Comedy serve food?

RISE Comedy does not serve food, but Biker Jim’s Gourmet Dogs is just around the corner from us, offering a huge array of exotic hot dogs and sides, including vegetarian and vegan options.  Please note, food is not allowed in the bar or theater areas due to health code regulations!

What is your seating like? Can my group sit together?

We have general admission open seating, which is first come first serve.  If you are bringing a large group, please contact us and we will arrange to hold seats so you can all be seated together.

Are you ADA compliant/handicapped accessible?

Yes!  RISE Comedy is proud to be fully ADA compliant and handicapped & wheelchair accessible.  The theater and bar are entirely on the first floor, and our restrooms are accessible as well.

Do you have any age restrictions? Can I bring my kids?

All shows at RISE Comedy are all ages until 10:00 PM, and 21+ with valid ID after 10:00 PM.

Do you have a dress code?

We do not have a dress code!  Use common sense though; shoes and shirts are required for service.

What is your show refund/cancellation policy?

Once your purchase/reservation is complete, RISE Comedy does not offer partial or full refunds of show tickets or packages, unless the show is cancelled by the theater. All sales are final and non-transferrable.

Do you offer an open mic?

Yes! The Laugh Lab open mic takes place every Wednesday night at 8:00 PM. Click HERE for dates/times and more information!

I want to do improv/stand up at RISE Comedy! How can I perform?

The best way to start performing at RISE Comedy is to take classes here, attend our open mics, and/or come see shows at the theater and meet the producers. Most of our shows are produced by outside producers. You can send us your tape if you like, but the best way is to join the community!

If you have a show idea, please CLICK HERE to submit your show pitch to us.  We can’t guarantee we will select your show, but the more effort your put into your pitch, the better your chances are!

Do you offer karaoke?

We occasionally host karaoke events, so keep an eye on our calendar and Facebook page for more details!

What is your class & workshop refund/cancellation policy?

We do not and cannot offer refunds for purchased classes (unless the class is canceled by the theater). Students who drop out before the class begins are entitled to a credit for a future class, pending availability. Students who drop out of a class after it begins are not eligible for a refund or credit.

Class sizes are limited to ensure individual attention. Enrollment is dependent upon availability. If a class fills up you will be promptly contacted with other enrollment options. For enrolled students, a confirmation welcome email will be sent 3 days before the start of the first class.

What is the RISE Comedy philosophy of improvisation?

We believe that at its core, good improvisation is a series of choices and discoveries made by an ensemble of committed, emotional players all supporting one another. We seek to create great improv by realizing the potential of the group.

Can I just pay for & attend the first class meeting to see if I like it? Can I audit a class?

No. Our classes are six to eight weeks long and are packaged as a unit. We do not sell individual class sessions.  We also can’t allow outside visitors or auditors for classes, due to the participatory nature of improvisation.

If you want to try improv out before committing to a full class session, we offer drop-in classes every Tuesday night at 6:00 PM, open to all levels, for just $5/person!  CLICK HERE for more info on drop-in classes.

To join the Denver improv community…

And to HAVE FUN!

When and where are classes held?

Classes take place on weekend afternoons, and also during the week, typically in the evenings.  Most classes meet at RISE Comedy in the theater or our new annex space, and we also occasionally hold classes at offsite locations.  We’ll let you know the time, dates, and location of your chosen class session before registration is complete.
