Improv for Gamers Workshop - Thursday, October 1, 2026 @ 6:30 PM

Dave Hill helps you play IN your games. This 2-hour workshop explores the art of role-play itself. In improvisation and gaming, the fundamental action is the same: creative collaboration in the moment. We run exercises and offer strategies to help you create immersive role-play experiences, build confidence as storytellers, and express your personality through your characters. 2-Hour Workshop, Max capacity 16  (we sometimes teach this with 2 teachers where we split into 2 groups so we can talk out the logistics of that)
What to Expect
  • Practice core principles of improvised storytelling
  • Play fun and interactive exercises that foster collaboration
  • Develop your ability to think in character and find a POV
  • Build confidence in your performance abilities and expressing your personality
DAVE HILL is an actor, improviser, writer and producer living in LA. He is the founder of Gumption Improv. He has been seen in multiple tv appearances including MODERN FAMILY and the short-lived but wonderful NBC sitcom GREAT NEWS.  His voice has been heard on such animated series as AMERICAN DAD, AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE and SQUIDBILLIES.   He co-wrote, co-directed and co-starred in the feature film THE NIGHT IS YOUNG (now available on Peacock, Amazon and other streamers).  He has died hundreds of different ways while doing voices for video games.  Hundreds.

Financial Assistance

We understand that financial circumstances can sometimes make participation challenging. Please know that your presence, voice and contributions are valued here, and we are committed to making our programs as accessible as possible.

We have a few ways to help folks experience our classes. First off, all of our volunteers can take up to one full level class every term. Our volunteers learn positions at the theater and agree to a regular schedule at either our box office, tech booth, or our HM position which helps get the shows started on time. If you have a skill or trade or item that could be of benefit the theater, we're open to talking to you about it. We also offer payment plans for more flexibility, look into them at check out.

If those options aren't helpful, we offer an inclusion scholarship that will help Rise best reflect Denver. If you feel that you have a perspective and experience that Rise could benefit from we offer scholarships each term for our leveled classes. Apply below.
