The Story’s the Thing: A Workshop Taught by Jeremy Sweetlamb

This workshop will focus on how your awareness of scenic and overall show structure can improve your longform improv and storytelling technique. Chock full of awesome charts and graphs for you visual learners and loaded with scenework for you stage junkies, this class will leave you hungry for more of the “improvised theatre” style of performance. Available Cupholders have been innovators in the field of narrative improv for over 20 years, inventing numerous formats that focus on not only HOW a story is told, but WHY a story is successful.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Jeremy Sweetlamb is a lifelong student, director, actor, teacher, promoter, producer, and defender of improvised theatre. For 25 years he has lived and trained in Chicago, LA, and New York before returning to his native Austin, TX. He has recorded a comedy album: ‘Beardedlamb Sings Along to the Urban Cowboy Motion Picture Soundtrack.’ He has performed with Bill Hader and Bob Odenkirk at the Just for Laughs festival in Montreal. In 2001, he started a comedy festival called Out of Bounds which grew to become one of the biggest in the country. He continues to embrace failure gracefully by teaching middle school theatre and trying to be a good partner and Dad to two lil bitties.
