The Slacker is an improv form pioneered and performed by the legendary improv group BeerSharkMice. It’s fast, it’s fun and it’s the subject of this workshop.
In this class veteran teacher and improviser, Paul Vaillancourt will take you inside this form that he has been performing for nearly 20 years with BeerSharkMice and teach you the tricks and traps that make this form the fast fast-paced rollercoaster ride that keeps players on their toes and audiences on the edge of their seats.
This class is for you if: – You love playing fast and attacking the stage
– You want to break away from telling linear stories
– You like playing many different characters within a single show or want to challenge yourself in that direction
– You love building and exploring new worlds
– You usually play slower and want to experiment with different tempos
– You want to learn a form that has enough structure to keep you on track but is also wide open and allows you to run
– You want to have a ball on stage
Paul Vaillancourt is the co-founder (with Charna Halpern) of the iO West and has been teaching and performing improv for close to 30 years.
