Pantomime w/ Anya Opshinsky [Workshop]

Hone your pantomime skills with a workshop focusing on mime techniques to enhance the imaginary landscapes we build in improv. In this class we will focus on how to hold tension in order to manipulate a range of different objects. We will talk about how the weight and shape of objects affects how we manipulate them differently and engage our entire body to lift, carry, push and pull different sized objects. We will break down the steps to common actions such as opening doors, setting a table and riding a bicycle in order to bring to life our imagined realities. Hope to see you there!

Anya Opshinsky is a German, American director, actress, and teacher originally from NYC. She received her BA in Theatre and Sociology from Kalamazoo College and studied mime and physical theater at Ecole Jacques Lecoq, Paris. Anya has taught mime, mask-making and improv with HUGE Improv, MN, Vis à Vis Théâtre, and Théâtre de Verre, Paris. She works as a solo artist performing original drag, mask and clown pieces and is currently working on an original two person physical comedy entitled ROVERS.
