RISE Comedy is proud to host Celeste Pechous for these special workshops! Take one workshop or take them all for a special discount!
The Initiation – Sat 1/30 @ 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM MT
The first few lines of an improvised scene are the beginnings of a blueprint for said scene. Initiating can sometimes provoke anxiety. This concentration will work that initiation muscle and lessen those fears so you can be confident right out of the gate. We’ll focus on removing all second-guessing of yourself when it comes to starting a scene by providing strong initiating choices, actions and dialogue.
The Supporting Role – Sat 2/6 @ 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM MT
Support Roles are often undermined in their concrete ability to heighten and enhance a scene to it’s full potential. This workshop will allow you to look at the scene from a whole new angle via different avenues of supporting what is already there by adding to the scene via entrances, exits, walk-ons, background and atmosphere. Find purpose, timing and voice in your supporting roles.
The Two-Person Monoscene – Sat 2/13 @ 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM MT
A ten-minute, two-person scene… make you a little nervous? Good. That means you’re ready. Before you know it you’ll easily be able to do a two-person 25 minute set. Detailed analyzation and notes after each scene. YOU can (and will) do it.
A Taste of Long-Form – Sat 2/20 @ 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM MT
Dissect the long-form structure bit by bit, starting with the opening and moving into the game, tag outs, walk-ons, editing, callbacks, ensemble, grounded-scene work, environment/object heightening and of course the characters and releationships that drive the long-form forward. “The Montage” and “The Oak Tree” will be the centerpiece of this focus.
